TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit and run crash in Tampa.
Troopers said it happened early Saturday morning just after 3 a.m.
Troopers said the driver a camaro traveling westbound on East Fowler Avenue east of I-75 collided with another car and overturned causing the driver to be ejected onto the road. Troopers said post-impact, the vehicle struck by the Camaro left the scene and as two passersby stopped to help, two other vehicles traveling westbound collided with the driver of the Camaro. Authorities said both of those vehicles and drivers also fled the scene of the crash. Troopers said the driver of the Camaro suffered fatal injuries.
Hours after the crash, troopers said a 1997 pickup truck was located abandoned off of Fletcher Avenue and was identified as the vehicle first struck by the Camaro.
Troopers remain in search of the two vehicles which struck the Camaro driver.
Another happened the same day. Tampa Police said a driver was traveling EB on W. Kennedy Blvd at S. Tampania Ave when a man was struck who had stepped into the roadway.
Police said the driver slowed down and then accelerated away from the scene. The man died at the scene, police said.
Police said one suspect has been arrested.
