TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Tampa firefighters said a fire broke out just after 12:30 a.m. Monday at the Waterman's Crossing Apartments at 4515 N. Rome Ave.
Firefighters said no one was injured, but several residents have been displaced.
Crews said once they arrived on scene the fire quickly spread to the third floor and a third alarm was called in adding an additional three engine companies.
By two in the morning, firefighters said most of the flames were out and firefighters continued to douse hot spots in the building.
Investigators have determined that a fire occurred in the kitchen of one of the units on the second floor of building, firefighters said.
They also said surrounding units received varying degrees of fire, smoke, heat, and water damage.
Damage to the building and its contents is estimated at $310,000, TFR said.
