ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (970 WFLA) - After seven years, DT Minich is leaving his position as the executive director of Visit St. Pete/Clearwater to become the director of the Kissimmee Convention and Visitors Bureau.

His accomplishments include successfully getting area residents to stay home and visit local attractions during the recession and making sure the country knew Pinellas County beaches were clean after the Gulf oil spill.

He tells Newsradio 970 WFLA's AM Tampa Bay, the staff at Visit St. Pete/Clearwater will carry on after he's gone.

David Downing, the assistant director at Visit St. Pete/Clearwater, will serve as the director until a replacement is named.
