'Rugrats' To Return With Nickelodeon Series, Paramount Film In 2020

Here's some Nickelodeon nostalgia for you: the Rugrats are making their comeback!

On Monday (July 16), the children-based network announced a 26-episode renewal for the '90s animated series, with Paramount Players (an umbrella of Paramount Pictures) planning a live-action film adaptation that will depict the youngsters in CGI form. Per Variety, the forthcoming movie and small screen revival will concentrate on the new experiences of favorite tikes Tommy, Susie, Angelica, Chuckie, twins Phil and Lil as well as "a new world of characters."

Original showrunners Arlene Klasky, GĂĄbor CsupĂł and Paul Germain will reprise their roles as executive producers on the project. David Goodman will write the film which is predicted to release on November 13, 2020.

More specifics of the Rugrats series and its air date will be revealed in the months ahead.

This isn't the only instance in which the adventurous toddlers have been sought after since the conclusion of the show’s nine-season, 13-year run in 2004. The original received an adolescent spinoff with All Grown Up! in 2003 and spawned three films in its tenure: The Rugrats Movie (1998), Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (2000) and Rugrats Go Wild (2003).
