Child's Play Series In The Works For 2020

"Child's Play" TV Series?

It looks like there's a been a resurgence in the whole Chucky franchise recently. They've announced the new Child's Play film coming out on June 21st, (You can read about that on a recent blog here.)

Not only is there the new movie coming out, but it looks like a new TV series is in the works for 2020. It's planning to be called... "CHUCKY". Glad they're keeping it simple!

It will be similar feel to the first two movies, and keeping the original story of the voodoo practicing con man Charles Lee Ray as Chucky. However, it will be telling a new story with new characters.

The original voice of Chucky, (Brad Dourif) will provide the voice again for the killer doll. (Yes! Glad they've kept him for the role.) Brad Dourif's daughter Fiona Dourif who was also cast in the last two films as Nica Pierce, along with Chucky's bride Tiffany played by Jennifer Tilly might eventually appear in the show as well.

The series is in development will be featured on SyFy. This sounds awesome! I hope they keep the 80's/90's feel to it, like how the first films were. The Chucky creator Don Mancini said about the new series

"The series is going to be closer to the tone of the first two movies in the series though. It's going to back to a sort of classic scare... It's consistent with that mythology, but it's a whole new story. So, you could come into it without knowing anything about the previous stuff and get into it. But, it's consistent with all the mythology that has come before, so it's canon."

There have been some skeptical people about the new Child's Play movie. Original Bride Of Chucky co-star Jennifer Tilly shared her not so impressed thoughts about the new movie trailer on her twitter saying:

New Chucky movie? Ummm... no. Tiffany and I are gonna sit this one out. #NotmyChucky."

I don't know about you guys? But, I'm looking forward to this this TV series more than the the new feature film remake. -@georgiasmith87
