This Is How Katy Perry Joined Taylor Swift's 'You Need To Calm Down' Video

It wasn't that long ago that pop queens Taylor Swift and Katy Perry were foes. To recap years of fights, legend has it that Katy stole backup dancers from Taylor in 2010 starting almost a decade's worth of feuding.

Throughout the years, the two have gone back and forth talking about their broken friendship but in May 2018, things seemed to get better when Taylor used her Instagram Story to show a literal olive branch that Katy sent her at the start of her Reputation Stadium Tour as a sign of peace.

Fast forward to June 17, 2019, and it's safe to say there is no more "Bad Blood" between these two women as Katy has now appeared in Taylor's "You Need To Calm Down" video.

So how exactly did Taylor convince Katy to join the star-studded cast of the second music video off her seventh studio album, Lover?

She texted her of course.

The "ME!" singer detailed their conversation in a new interview with a UK radio station stating the two have been on good terms for quite some time but never wanted to publicly say so. But when Taylor thought of the video idea, she knew she had to ask her former enemy to star in it.

"[The text] was a long synopsis of the entire video and I didn't think of the burger and fries costume until she wore the burger to the Met Gala afterparty and I was like, 'that is amazing,'" Taylor explained. "I was thinking we're going to have this moment in the video and if it's too on the nose, if it's too us wearing normal clothes and hugging, it won't really fit into this video... so I was like, 'can we do a burger and fries as a metaphor for two people who belong together and people who are a perfect pair?' and she thought it was really funny ā€” so we did it!"

Elsewhere in the interview, Taylor revealed when they finally saw each other again after so long, all the negativity just melted away and they remembered how much they had in common. "When we saw each other it was just very clear to both of us that everything was different, that we had grown up, that we had grown past allowing ourselves to be pitted against each other. It was really, really clear that we remembered how much we had in common," she said.

So happy these two are friends again! Relive the epic reunion in the "You Need To Calm Down" video below.
