TAMPA it's time todress to not impresson December 6th for Tampa's first annual Ugly Sweater Holiday Run 5k at WestShore Plaza!

Race Info

WestShore Plaza is hosting Tampa’s first official Ugly Sweater Holiday Run 5k on December 6th, 2020 in benefit of Finn’s Fighter’s (a local nonprofit whose mission is to increase awareness of pediatric cancer and support families facing medical crisis in the Tampa Bay area).   Celebrate the holiday season with friends and family at a fun 5k Run/Walk at WestShore Plaza. First 400 finishers will receive theugliestmedal around! This is a GUN START and CHIP FINISH race. Overall winners will receive some amazing prizes and the race will conclude with an after party at the WestShore Plaza Irish31. There will be a virtual race option for those that cannot attend.

Make sure you’re on the nice list this year because Santa is making an appearance!

COVID-19 precautions:

This race will be adhering to CDC guidelines and will be cognizant of social distancing practices. Race day runners will begin the race in groupings.  Each group will have a staggered start time.

Registration

Now through November 1st: $30

November 1st– December 5th: $35

Race Day: $40

In order to maintain social distancing, please register on ITSYOURACE.COM. We will be accepting limited in-person registration on race day but prefer people register in advance. Day of registration closes at 7:30 AM.Registration fees are nonrefundable.

Shirts are guaranteed until specified cutoff date that will be announced. Shirts will be given out on race day but sizes aren’t guaranteed after cutoff point.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup will be at Dick’s Sporting Goods at WestShore Plaza on Friday, December 4thfrom 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Parking

Parking is plentiful at WestShore Plaza. We would like runners to park in the South Parkade (nearest JC Penney) due to closures from the course. Please allow enough time and plan accordingly.

Virtual Race Option

For those that can’t make the run in person or would prefer to run this race virtually, this option will be available and you can still support this cause! Through theIYR VIRTUALapp, runners can set this up remotely and do the race on their own terms. All virtual runners will be mailed a shirt and a medal after completion of their run. Please allow a couple of weeks to receive your items.

Post Race

An award ceremony will be given after the race and overall winners will be announced and given their prizes. Following this, a post-race celebration with food and drinks will be held at Irish31 on property. A drink ticket will be included with your registration and will be added to runner’s bags. Food and appetizers will also be served at no cost for runners. The ugly sweater costume contest winners will be announced at Irish 31.

Ugly Sweater Costume Contest

This is a fun race for all ages and we encourage you to dress in your ugliest holiday sweater. The best(or worst)ugly sweaters will get a prize!

Results

Results are updated as you finish the race and can be accessed on ITSYOURRACE.COM or the ITS YOUR RACE app.

Awards

The first 400 finishers will receive a medal. Overall prizes will be awarded for Overall Male and Female 1st, 2nd, and 3rdplaces. There will also be prizes for Overall Male and Female Masters Divisions. All age group winners will also receive a prize!

Race Day Information

6:30 AM. Gates open for bib pickup and in person registration. Please plan ahead and be certain you know how to find the race. Start and finish line will take place on the side road next to Besito Mexican Restaurant. 

7:40 AM.  Corral lineup begins for race. We will place runners into groupings to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Plan to be parked wearing your bib and moving to the corals by this time. Strollers, walkers, and dog owners should be placed in the back. This helps to ensure the safety and fun experience for all participants. 

7:45AM(SHARP). Bib pickup table closes no matter how long the line is to ensure the race begins on time at 8:00AM. Participants who complete the race without their bib will not appear in the official chip timed race results to receive credit for completing the race.

7:55AMOpening Ceremony Begins. Be in your corral positioned according to your race pace. 

8:00AM(SHARP) Race starts! You don’t want to miss out!

Additional Important Information

  • No bib swapping allowed.
  • Bring photo ID to be eligible when redeeming your Irish 31 drink ticket.
  • No bikes or rollerblades will be permitted.
  • Santa will be limited and his time will not be guaranteed.
  • Leash required for runners with dogs
