Tampa Moves Money to Avoid Federal Debt Ceiling Clawback

TAMPA -- A Florida city votes to avoid a potential clawback of federal ARPA money under a deal on the debt ceiling.

Tampa's CFO says an agreement potentially could mean that $20 million in uncommitted money under the American Rescue Plan Act will go back to Washington.

Dennis Rogero urged council to pledge the money to police salaries and cover their original plans, including $12 million to be spent on housing with general funds.

Council approved the plan Monday and will take a second vote Thursday.
