Hearing in Gabby Petito Family's Florida Lawsuit Against Laundries

VENICE, FL -- A bitter legal battle between the parents of a couple who died in a murder and suicide takes place today in a Sarasota County courtroom.

The parents of Gabby Petito, murdered by Brian Laundrie according to the FBI, are asking a judge in Venice to order HIS parents to report any bank withdrawals of more than $10,000 around the time Laundrie is believed to have killed Petito in 2021. Laundrie returned to his parents' home in North Port before taking his own life.

The Laundries insist their only big withdrawals were to pay lawyer Steven Bertolino, also a defendant in the case.

Petito's parents want damages, claiming the Laundries caused them to suffer by not telling them that their daughter was dead.

The case is set to go to trial in August.
