This Is The Highest Earning Christmas Movie Of All Time

Who doesn't love watching classic Christmas movies with a mug of hot coco? There are, obviously, so many amazing holiday films to choose from, it's hard to guess which one is the highest-earning Christmas movie of all time. Between It's A Wonderful Life, Elf, Miracle on the 34th Street and so many more, it feels like this title could go to, well, any of them.

According to Box Office Mojo, Home Alone takes the crown as the highest-grossing Christmas of all time. Are you surprised? Box Office Mojo reports Home Alone has a lifetime gross of $285.5 million. When adjusted for ticket price inflation, though, Home Alone made the equivalent of $619.1 million in today's time.

So, what Christmas movie follows Home Alone? In the second and third spot on the list are two different adaptations of Dr. Seuss' beloved children's book How The Grinch Stole Christmas. The 2000 live-action version starring Jim Carey came in second place which made $260 million at the box office, while the 2018 animated adaptation  Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch starring Benedict Cumberbatch which has made $239.3 at the box office since opening in early November.

Rounding out the top ten are The Polar Express, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Elf, The Santa Clause, The Santa Clause 2, A Christmas Carol (2009), and Four Christmases.
