Florida Democrats Want Judge to Throw Out a Ballot Rule They Created

TALLAHASSEE -- Decades ago, Democrats ruled Florida, and they passed legislation requiring the party occupying the governor's office to go first on the ballot.

After 20 years mostly out of power in the state capital, they're asking a federal judge to throw that law out.

Ion Sancho, a former election supervisor in Leon County says voters are likely to pick the first name they see.

The state argues that the current law doesn't keep anyone from voting for the candidate of their choice.
