Broward Among Many Counties On Board With New ICE Program

Police agencies in Florida could soon be trained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents so they can arrest and detain illegal immigrants.

Departments that have signed on to the Warrant Service Officers program claim it only pertains to jailers... allowing them to hold already arrested inmates for up to 48-hours so ICE can pick them up.

According to the Miami Herald, "For a deputy to become certified as a Warrant Service Officer, a county must sign a memorandum of understanding with ICE listing how many officers would be deputized. Each would then receive eight hours of training."

It doesn't allow cops to arrest people solely because they're undocumented.

Miami-Dade hasn't joined the program.
