Children arrested at Orlando charter school won't be prosecuted.

State Attorney Aramis Ayala says charges against two young children are being dropped. The six year olds- a boy and a girl- were arrested by a school resource officer at the Lucious and Emma Nixon Charter School in Orlando last Thursday in separate incidents for allegedly acting up in school. The arrests sparked outrage.

"These very young children are to be protected, nurtured and disciplined in a manner that does not rely on the criminal justice system to do it," Ayala said. "Systems are not designed to raise our children- people are."

Officer Dennis Turner who handcuffed the children is no longer employed by the Orlando Police Department.

Police Chief Orlando Rolon issued an apology to the children and their families. As a grandfather of three, Chief Rolon said he couldn't imagine how traumatic 'this was for everyone involved.'
