Retail Fed predicts victory for Florida retailers ahead of Super Bowl

The Florida Retail Federation says based on consumer spending data from an annual Super Bowl survey, this year will be the strongest one yet when it comes to sales.

The FRF says those watching the big game Sunday night in Miami between the Chiefs and 49ers expect to spend an average $88.65 on food and beverages, merchandise and party supplies per person for a nationwide total of $17.2 billion.

"Florida is proud to host this year's Super Bowl," FRF president and CEO Scott Shalley said. "Whether you're planning to host a watch party or looking for gear to show your team spirit, get what you need at Florida's retailers."

Hundreds of thousands of out-of-state fans are expected to travel to South Florida to watch San Francisco and Kansas City compete at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
