Most Of Florida Moves To Phase 2 On Friday, South Florida Excluded

Most of Florida will enter Phase 2 of its coronavirus recovery plan.

Gov. Ron DeSantis made the announcement from the Universal Orlando Resort on Wednesday.

"I think we have an opportunity to continue to move forward in a safe, smart step-by-step approach. I think it will give more people in Florida more opportunities and I think it's the right way to go forward."

Starting Friday, 64 of Florida's 67 counties move into Phase 2. This means restaurants will be stay at 50 percent capacity, but they will be allowed to open bar area seating. Also, bars and pubs can open at 50-percent capacity.

Movie theaters can reopen too, at 50-percent capacity.

Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties are excluded from Phase 2, for now, but the governor says they are working with local governments.

DeSantis is still encouraging masks and temperature checks for anyone who goes to a large event.
