A 9-year-old boy committed suicide after being bullied at school for coming out.
Let that sink in... 9 YEARS OLD.
My heart is broken for this kid.
9-year-old Jamel came out to his mom over the summer, and told her he wanted to tell people at school he was gay because he was proud of himself. Jamel went to school...but unfortunately was bullied for coming out.
According to the mom, Jamel told his sister that the kids at school told him to kill himself. After being at school for four days, Jamel took his own life.
Can we please for the love of God talk to kids about bullying? About how it is in NO WAY acceptable!! About how you should treat people the way you want to be treated, and look out for people if they ARE being bullied.
