If you've been on a flight recently, you know how expensive baggage fees can be. Heck, if you fly almost any airline besides Southwest, you're dropping more than $30 for your checked bags. Spirit even charges you for carry-on!

Turns out the airlines are making a killing on these fees!

According to a study by Upgraded Points, in the past year, airlines have made over $5 BILLION in baggage charges!

The site found that:

Alaska Airlines increased its baggage revenue by 40%. Sun Country Airlines also saw a massive increase of over 91%. The other carrier with higher-than-average growth was Spirit Airlines.
