TAMPA -- Thousands of Floridians plan to spend Labor Day, boating.
It just happens that this year, today (Monday) is also International Manatee Day.
Ally Greco with the Save the Manatee Club says Mexico started honoring sea cows on September 7th.
With so many Floridians on the water, Greco is urging boaters to follow the rules and use a spotter with polarized glasses to look for signs of manatees.
Greco says boating accidents take a major toll among manatees each year, but the numbers from 2020 might be less clear, as the COVID-19 pandemic has made it harder for people to conduct necropsies.
