You might wanna disable this feature NOW if you don't want to share your internet connection with your neighbors.
According to USA Today, starting June 8th, Amazon will automatically enroll all eligible Echo devices in it's new Amazon Sidewalk feature. Sidewalk will pretty much share a small amount of your internet connection with anyone that might need it. (See how to disable it below)
According to Amazon:
The network shares a small portion of your internet bandwidth which is pooled together to provide these services to you and your neighbors. And when more neighbors participate, the network becomes even stronger.
Here's a step-by-step on how to disable the feature:
- Open the Amazon Alexa app
- Open "More" on the bottom
- "Settings"
- "Account Settings"
- "Amazon Sidewalk"
- Disable it
