Very interested to see whose side you are on in cat-Watergate (Iâm honestly torn). A cat parent took to Twitter to share her recent experience with her neighbor and their teenage son, and the internet is divided right now. Parents are pissed at her, cat owners are rejoicing.
Long story short: a 13-year-old boy threw water on her cat and laughed about it⊠so she threw water on the boy. The boyâs dad got pissed. (See the tweet and my opinion below)
The cat parent tweeted:
My 10 year old neighbour just threw a cup of water over my cat who was sitting on the fence minding his own business n laughed so I threw a basin of water over him from the window and now his dad is at my door going mental but I donât see the problem, donât touch my cat
Of course, this has split the internet.
Parents are angry (and I kinda agree?):
And cat parents have her back for doing it (and I kinda agree? Lol):
Hereâs my (probably unpopular) opinion:
As a somewhat intelligent, well-raised human being, I completely understand (and agree) that you should never do something to someone elseâs kid to reprimand. Itâs not your place to; thatâs their parents job.
That being said⊠as the proud cat dad of Aiden & Tucker (shout out @aidenandtucker on IG), you throw water on one of them, Iâm probably throwing water right back atcha.
ITâS JUST WATER! Itâs not like Iâm hitting your kid, or yelling at them, or throwing something worse at them. Itâs just water.
Now donât get me wrong, I would probably realize it was somewhat wrong to do as I was doing it, but hey, gotta stand up for my defenseless kids. A 13-year-old should definitely know not to throw water on my cat!
And yes, if I was a parent to an actual human, I would probably be PISSED as well that someone threw water on my kid (even though they deserved it). Donât you dare discipline my kid; thatâs MY job. And I would probably go ballistic on them too like the neighbor did⊠then reprimand my kid at home.
SO IâM TORN!
How do you feel about the situation? DM ME on Instagram: @iambrianfink!
Good news is that it all ended fine:
