A Marco Island official can be among the first to take advantage of a new law.
The city council voted this week to allow medical marijuana dispensaries to open.
Before the vote, many spoke about the need to have a dispensary near them so they can get the help they need to treat their pain.
City Councilor Sam Young told the crowd he just got his medical marijuana card last week, and he looks forward to no longer relying on opioids to treat his back pain.
