PBC Schools Superintendent Donald Fennoy Gets Grade Of "Highly Effective"

PBC Schools Superintendent Donald Fennoy

Palm Beach County Schools Superintendent Donald Fennoy received mostly positive grades in his first review by the school board Wednesday night, receiving a top overall rating of "highly effective."

That means he is expected to receive a pay raise of somewhere between $7,000 and $11,000.

While Fennoy received positive scores for his implementing of the changes mandated by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act and the push for a sales tax increase, some poor grades were handed out when it came to grades for students.

Some board members mentioned disappointment in third grade reading scores, which fell for the first time since the new state exams debuted in 2015.

Also, Palm Beach County is no longer the top performing urban district in the state. Miami-Dade schools pulled ahead in the state's school-grading formula.

Fennoy has been on the job for 18 months.
