Wow. We really are advancing with medicine and technology.
US researchers with a group called Braingate have decoded signals in the brain that are linked to handwriting after a small microchip was inserted into the brain of a paralyzed 65-year-old man. The clinical trial worked very well, but the team says more demonstrations of the “longevity, safety, and efficacy” are required before it can be put into wide use.
After having the 2 tiny brain implants inserted into his head, thean was able to type on the screen at “about the same speed a person of that age can type on a smartphone,” according to the researchers. In this case, that meant around 90 characters per minute with 94.1 percent accuracy. How crazy is that? If this really works, could you imagine what this could do for the world?
