Dramatic Video Shows Florida Officer Who Can't Swim Rescue Baby From Pond

One Florida officer has been deemed a hero after body cam footage was released showing Officer Me'Atia Sanderson of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office jumping into a retention pond to save a drowning baby.

Officer Anderson was able to successfully save the child, who was drowning in an apartment complex retention pond, despite the fact that she herself was unable to swim.Without hesitation, she dived into the murky waters, rescued the child, and immediately performed CPR until backup arrived.

The incident happened back in July, but the body cam footage was released early last week.

According to WESH, Sanderson has been honored, according to representatives of the sheriff's office, for the significance of her "quick and decisive decision to go into the retention pond."
